Application ProcessMembership in the USAC Officers’ Corps or NCO Corps is a privilege reserved for those individuals who desire to promote the objectives and purposes of the USAC and the U.S. Army and who meet the eligibility requirements outlined herein. Leadership and command of the USAC, at all levels below HQ, USAC, is provided by a dedicated corps of non-paid professional officers, NCOs and instructors. Each applicant must complete a series of prerequisites and a thorough screening process prior to receiving a USAC commission or NCO appointment. Lengthy, extensive and thorough by design, the commissioning process in the USAC approximates that of the U.S. Army. This process ensures the quality of the applicant and recognizes their suitability for the USAC commissioning program. Likewise, it is clearly demonstrative of the USAC’s ongoing commitment to providing our membership with the highest caliber leadership and the most proficient non-paid professional officer corps. Additionally, each individual is thoroughly examined for intellect and character attributes consistent with the moral and ethical behavior required of an officer. Each applicant must subscribe to the qualities of self-discipline, care for others, self-confidence, critical judgment and moral integrity. Every officer assumes responsibility to provide a personal example of these qualities. Therefore, each Cadet receives an opportunity for healthy emotional, physical and spiritual development. As each officer is inherently charged with the health and welfare of every young adult enrolled in the USAC, these standards and procedures are of paramount importance. Procedures for processing officer, NCO or instructor applications are time consuming and can take 45 or more days in most cases. This process is often frustrating, but necessary, if we are to ensure the safety of the Cadets and maintain the present high caliber of the USAC Officer and Noncommissioned Officer Corps. Detailed information on these procedures is contained in USAC regulations. It is essential that these regulations are thoroughly reviewed and understood prior to commencing preparation of officer or NCO applications. Failure to do so will likely extend an already lengthy process. The Office of the Inspector General (OTIG) must approve each officer and NCO applicant. This approval is based on the results of a special background investigation conducted on each applicant prior to appointment. Consequently, there are no temporary appointments to USAC officer, officer candidate, instructor or NCO status. Only the CG, USAC may approve officer or NCO appointments. An individual may be designated as an "acting" Executive Officer or "acting" S1 but he or she may not assume a USAC officer or NCO rank or wear a USAC uniform until duly appointed by the CG, USAC through the office of the Completed applications are to be sent to: Headquarters
