103rd UNITED STATES ARMY CADET CORPS BIRTHDAYOne hundred and three years ago, Captain James H. C. Smyth created a military oriented organization to teach citizenship and patriotism to the young men of New York City and give them a chance for adventure. A centennial later, the United States Army Cadet Corps continues this tradition by teaching young men and women from New York to California the values of Commitment, Achievement, Discipline, Education, Training, and Service. Fourth Annual Parade of CadetsJoin us on 14 April 2012 at 1000 to view or participate in the Parade of Cadets. The parade will celebrate the history of Cadetting, the United States Armed Forces, the United States of America, and Patriotism. ANY AND ALL units or individuals interested in showing their support of our men and women in uniform are encouraged to attend. In the past, participants included: Police Officers, Firefighters, Reenactors, High School Marching Bands, Army Marching Band, Antique Car and Tractor Owners, Boy Scouts of America Troops, Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Units, Civil Air Patrol Squadrons, Naval Sea Cadets, and Young Marines. The events for Saturday, 14 April 2012, will culminate with the gala Army Cadet Birthday Ball. Doors will open at 1800 and guests will be treated to gourmet cuisine, live entertainment, and esprit de corps, HOOAH! Millersburg Military Institute Alumni ReunionThe open house on 14 April 2012 will include a variety of events and displays which exhibit the capabilities of the United States Army and the heritage of the US Army Cadet Corps and the former Millersburg Military Institute (MMI). Displays will include MMI memorabilia, yearbooks, US Army Cadet Corps historical photos, a multi-media display, static displays and more. The event will include an informal gathering of the Cadets, faculty, staff and supporters of MMI at 1230 in the Dinning Facility (DFAC).
