Army Cadets Cadre Orientation Training

Lengthy, extensive and thorough by design, the officer commissioning and appointment process approximates that of the US Army Reserves or National Guard. This process ensures the quality of the applicant and recognizes their suitability for the USAC. Likewise, it is clearly demonstrative of our ongoing commitment to providing our membership with the highest caliber leadership and the most proficient non-paid professional officer corps. Additionally, each individual is thoroughly examined for intellect and character attributes consistent with the moral and ethical behavior required of an officer. Each applicant must subscribe to the qualities of self-discipline, care for others, self-confidence, critical judgment and moral integrity. Every officer and NCO assumes responsibility to provide a personal example of these qualities.

Procedures for processing officer and NCO applications are time consuming and can take 45 or more days in most cases. This process is often frustrating, but necessary, if we are to ensure the safety of the Cadets and maintain the present high caliber of the USAC officers and NCOs. In order to minimize this frustration, we require that applicants attend a mandatory orientation program of instruction. The Army Cadets Cadre Orientation Training (ACCOT) is the gateway to our Corps to all eligible officer, noncommissioned officers, and executive instructors. This program of instruction is held at the National Cadet Training Center (NCTC) in Millersburg, KY. To ensure quality and consistency throughout our program, ACCOT is required prior to forming a unit or interacting with USAC Cadets. In addition, effective 1 Oct 09, no individual is permitted to wear the USAC military uniform before completing ACCOT. Interested parties should monitor the website for upcoming October, January, or April orientation information.

Instruction includes Cadet Protection Policy Training (CPPT), bloodline (history), core values, officer professional development system, unit formation, unit administration, training techniques, recruiting and internal communications. ACCOT is conducted in conjunction with the Multiple Unit Training Assembly (MUTA) for Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), allowing participants to see an operational unit in action and permitting them to “shadow” unit officers during the various aspects of a MUTA.
