Centennial Celebration

The U.S. Army Cadet Corps celebrated 100 years of serving America's youth during our annual Leadership Symposium held 23-26 April 2009 at the National Cadet Training Center (NCTC) in Millersburg, Kentucky.  Some of the many colorful events that took place throughout the weekend were CPT Darin Ninness parachuting in with the American Flag, an overflight of an Apache attack helicopter from the 8-229 Aviation Regiment - "Flying Tigers" - at Fort Knox, a performance by the 113th Army Band – The Dragoons - from Fort Knox, KY., Parade of Cadets from across the nation, military reenactors, marching bands, and the Millersburg Military Institute Alumni celebrating the 113 years of heritage.

The Keynote Speaker at the Military Ball was James McEachin.  The famed actor is best known for performances in television hits such as “Perry Mason,” “Matlock” and “Murder She Wrote.”  Later, he performed patriotic performances for audiences ranging from the White House to the National Convention of the American Legion.  He is the 2007 GI Film Festival Winner for Best Short Film for his presentation of “Reveille,” which has been seen by millions. Mr. McEachin is a Silver Star and Purple Heart veteran of the Korean War, an Army Reserve Ambassador with a protocol position equivalent to the rank of Major General, and a member of the U.S. Army Cadet Corps Board of Advisors.
